ACTIVITY BOOK AWARDS

Award ceremonies were held at Harrison Primary Center, Navarre Intermediate Center, St. Adalbert School and Holy Family School last month in recognition of their participation in Weed & Seed’s second Activity Book Design Contest.

Winners were treated to pizza and winning schools were presented a plaque for their achievements. Over 500 students participated in the contest and a 28 page activity book was the result of their efforts. Luis Salinas of Washington High School designed the cover of the book and turned the Community Policing Committee’s mascot, Weedy-N-Seedy the Centipedee, into a super hero.

The super hero theme was the inspiration for the kids as they designed pages for the book. Many different super heroes emerged from the designs and many are featured in the book. Overall, over 90 pizzas, and 22 cases of water were consumed during the ceremonies.

Thanks to committee members for the hard work, the teachers and students for getting involved and supporting the project and to Barnaby’s Pizza for delivering the pizzas and offering them at a reduced price.
